Low Impact Exercises

Some people love high impact workouts either cardio or weights but that's not the only way to get a good workout into your day. 

Low impact cardio has plenty of benefits no matter your age or stage of life and being active for just 30 minutes a day can led to numerous benefits for your health. 

Walking - A short sharp 20 minute walk can get your heart pumping along with activating your muscles.  Set your pace and create walk habits by adding them after a meal.   Grab some friends and create a walking group, the time will fly by and be highly enjoyable. 

Cycle - How long has it been since you were on a bike.  Has it been a long time since your free wheeling days of feeling the wind through your hair?  Dust off the old steed and hit the trails.  Ease into your time on the bike to get your legs not to mention your butt used to being back in the saddle again.  Increase your time by even 5 minutes a few times a week. 

Swimming - Now the weather is cooling off perhaps it's time to get a pass for your local swimming/recreation centre.  There are always lanes for fast, slow and medium swimmers.  If it's been a while maybe a refresher lesson with the swim school instructor first and then commit to going a couple of times a week.

Stretch - Stretching is exercise!!!  It might be a good stretch session to get you moving in the morning or a nice wind down session at the end of a long day to help you relax for a better nights sleep.  Look into some online if you don't want to attend a local class during the winter months.  The benefits of stretching are long and varied, your muscles and mind with thank you for it. 

Whatever you do make sure you ease into more movement each day.  Gradually increase the duration and intensity and if you experience any pain or discomfort, stop and see a professional for advice.  

Head on outdoors and enjoy your 30 minutes of movement each day.
